Child, Adolescent, and Family Therapy
I work with children individually from 3-17 years of age. Depending
on the presenting challenges (i.e., ADHD, depression, anxiety,
Autism, etc.), I implement play therapy, cognitive-behavioral
therapy, and/or other forms of talk therapy to make sure the child
and family reach their success in as few sessions as necessary.
Though your child may be working alone with me in the room, as
the parent you are an integral part of the therapeutic process
and we will check-in regularly or have family sessions on occasion
to make sure we are all on the same page, working towards the
same goals.
If you have a younger child with Autism our sessions will
generally be conjoint, where a parent is present in the room for the duration of the session,
giving me the opportunity to teach you the skills necessary to connect with your child.
Dyadic Play
At times younger kids are not ready to be a part of the larger
playgroup to work on their skills. This is where interacting and
learning how to play appropriately, communicate, and share with
one other child in a dyad can be a great stepping stone to building
confidence, before progressing to a larger group setting.
In addition, some children with Autism may benefit more from a smaller
setting with less social stimulation and more direct attention from an
adult to really learn the basics of social interaction.
